HISTORY
THE FOUNDER :
The founder of the institution was Pandit Narayan Moreshwar Khare, a faithful disciple of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. Pandit Khare was a simple and pious man and also a learned musician.
He was brought to Sabarmati Ashram by Mahatma Gandhi. Khareji conducted the prayer meetings at the Sabarmati ashram and nurtured devotional songs of different languages, giving them a classical touch. The collection of these songs became popular as Ashram bhajanavali. We see Khareji in the famous photograph of Dandi march with an ektara in his hands, walking besides Gandhiji.
